As a figurative painter for whom the slightest detail counts,
I like playing with light, colours and volumes. Having painted
vast spaces, and captivated by life's instants and places,
I am today producing watercolours depicting more intimate
interior scenes: half-open windows letting in the summer light,
a door ajar on an abandoned bicycle, the stair-case of an
old entry hall, a pendulum fixed for eternity, boat hulls,
shutters, the wooden figures of a forgotten table-football
set, paint brushes and tubes waiting only for the artist's
hand to live again, pottery objects, garden chairs. Structures
and materials, contrasts and lights, coloured vibrations,
are amongst the precious research elements needed to recreate
the atmosphere of the moment.
