Born in 1961 in North, Eric Laurent develops from an early age an affinity for the artistic world and a desire to create. He decides to give up a technical training to attend Cambrai's Beaux Arts classes where he is taught drawing, sculpture and photography. His own particular style and his technique rapidly draw attention. Even though he does not attempt to paint an exact copy of nature, he needs to be close to it to depict it. Eric Laurent has caught on his palette the colours of seasons and time: soft, vivid, and audacious but always in harmony. Despite the absence of human characters, the poetic atmosphere which emanates from his paintings conveys the beauty and the strength of nature and life as if "frozen in time".
